YOU HAVE NO IDEA - Music from the documentary (FEBRUARY 2025)

IN THE SPRING OF 2022, my friend Alexander Jeffery asked if I would compose the score for a documentary he was making. I had no experience with film music, but I was blown away by the rough cut of “You Have No Idea,” the story of a mother raising her autistic son in the 1990s. I scored the film with digital instruments from my home office, but I knew I’d eventually like to arrange the music for live players and make a recording. This album is a “concert suite” of new arrangements of the music from the film, scored for 4-hand piano, string quartet, marimba, bass, and percussion. I assembled some of my most talented friends (all of whom donated their time to the project) and we recorded the entire album live in one night in June of 2023.

It’s streaming everywhere now. I hope you enjoy it.

This project was recorded by Lucas Kellison and Tony Hillhouse, and mastered by Doug Van Sloan at Focus Mastering in Omaha.
