FREE PDF HANDOUT: "I'D LIKE TO TEACH VOCAL JAZZ, BUT……"

Several years ago on this blog, I wrote about why vocal jazz is so important for a school’s music curriculum. Often a music teacher will tell me they wish their school offered a jazz choir, but the school doesn't have a teacher who feels qualified to start one. The choir director says “I don’t know anything about jazz,” and the instrumental director says “I don’t know anything about singing.”

With this problem in mind, I developed a handout that offers some specific advice for starting a jazz choir - the front side is for choir directors who don’t have any jazz background, and the back is for band directors who haven’t worked with singers.
